Frequently asked

Q. How is L1R5 calculated for JC admission?

L1R5 adds your English (L1) plus 5 relevant subjects, where A1 = 1 point up to F9 = 9 points. Lower is better; most JCs require a net score of 20 or below, and CCA / Higher Mother Tongue can deduct up to a few points.

Q. What is ELR2B2 for polytechnic admission?

ELR2B2 is English + 2 relevant subjects + 2 best subjects (5 subjects total), using the same A1–F9 points. The net aggregate must generally not exceed 22, and relevant subjects depend on the specific diploma course.

Q. How are A-Level rank points calculated?

From the 2025 cohort, University Admission Score is out of 70: your best 3 H2 subjects (A = 20 each) plus H1 General Paper (A = 10). H1 Mother Tongue or a 4th H1 only count if they improve your score; Project Work is Pass/Fail.

Q. How does the PSLE AL score work?

Each of the 4 subjects is graded AL1 (90–100 marks, best) to AL8. Your total is the sum of all four ALs, ranging from 4 (best) to 32.
